Ben Hillman

Ben Hillman is an award winning TV designer and renovation expert, passionate about interiors, furniture and lighting.

In 2010 Ben won ITV's nationwide search for 'The Next Big Thing' in interior design. Shortlisted by Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen and Michelle Ogundehin (Elle Decoration) he was chosen from hundreds of entrants to go head to head in an interior design challenge for the flagship programme 'This Morning' to makeover a family living room on a budget of just £1000.

Ben has since presented a series of Interior Design features on the programme where he taught the viewers how to adapt and upcycle furniture to create unique and individual living spaces, and ultimately achieve a little bling without the sting.

He went on to film with Lawrence Llewellyn-Bowen in 'Auction Party' for ITV 1 in which families or friends compete to raise money for charity with a fundraising auction (around the theme of collecting). Ben's role was to find and adapt items to sell for a profit.

He is currently working with Black and Decker to help launch their new high performance products.

Ben studied Product and Furniture Design at Ravensbourne College where he had early success designing and launching F-LUX lighting, one of the world's first portable LED lights and prototyping furniture designs with the Conran partnership.

With an affinity for all things home, Ben completed an internship with www.michaelsodeau.com before working as Special Projects Manager and then Assistant Interiors Editor for Wallpaper Magazine.

Ben also worked for The White Company co-ordinating photo-shoots and assisting in the styling of both their web and brochure photography. Shortly after this he launched a range of colour changing ambient greetings cards and pioneered the trend for laser cut stationery and was Highly Commended as Gift of The Year 2006.

Ben currently runs his own interior design, decorating and renovation business in Brighton with penchant for breathing new life and function into awkward spaces. He is a hands on kind of a guy who is at home with a hammer as he is on a Mac. He is now in the throws of building a new home for himself.
